Sauna Buying Guide — Step-by-Step

  1. Measure the space (and the path)

  • Measure footprint (W×D), height, and the path of travel (doors, stairs, turns).

  • Check the crate dimensions on the product page—not just the assembled size.

  • Surface: level, non-carpeted for indoor; solid, drained base for outdoor.

  • Leave the clearances listed on the product page for assembly/venting.

  1. Choose a heat style

  • Infrared (IR) / Full Spectrum IR → fast heat-up, lower ambient temps, simple daily use (often 120V).

  • Traditional (stove) → classic high-heat with steam pours on rocks (usually 240V).

  • Hybrid (IR + stove) → both profiles in one unit (typically 240V).

  1. Pick capacity & layout

  • 1–2 person (compact), 3 person (most homes), 4+ (family/hosting).

  • Straight vs corner/L benches to maximize seating in a given footprint.

  1. Confirm power requirements

  • Typical circuits: 120V / 15–20A for many 1–3 person IR; 240V / 30–40A for most Traditional/Hybrid and larger IR/FS.

  • Some models need a dedicated circuit and/or GFCI—follow the spec sheet.
Disclaimer: For safety and code compliance, all customers must have a licensed electrician inspect and verify the outlet/circuit installation—regardless of personal experience or expertise—before powering the unit.

  1. Choose materials & EMF level

  • Canadian Hemlock (light, stable) or Red Cedar (aromatic, classic—common outdoors).

  • Select low/ultra-low or near-zero EMF lines if EMF sensitivity matters to you.

  1. Plan delivery & assembly

  • Ships crated on a pallet (LTL curbside). Inspect and note any damage on the BOL; photograph the crate and keep packaging until setup is complete.

  • Two-person assembly with basic tools; panels lock together.

  • Run a short first “burn-in” session empty to off-gas and verify controls.

  1. Know the warranty (plain English)

  • Infrared (Golden Designs, Dynamic, Maxxus): 5-Year parts (electronics/heaters/cabinet components).

  • Traditional/Hybrid: 5-Year on electronics/IR + 1-Year on the stove/heater.

  • DCT (cold therapy): 1-Year parts on tubs & chillers; covers ~90 days; filters are consumables.

  • Manufacturer-issued limited warranties; keep your invoice & serial.

  1. Total cost checklist

  • Unit price

  • Published shipping (shown by model)

  • Electrical work (if needed)

  • Accessories (covers, mats, filters, chillers for cold tubs)
